The Australian Christmas weather forecast has come true. Here’s what to expect in your city

Although we can imagine a Christmas in Australia with lots of beaches, an outdoor barbecue and perfect sunny conditions, the weather gods don’t always play along.
Yet we can anticipate for days, if not weeks, whether we will have the sunny Christmas Day of our dreams, or whether plans will have to be postponed due to the cold and wet conditions indoors.
Fortunately, don’t think anymore. The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has released its Christmas Day forecast for Australia’s capital cities this year.

This is what Christmas looks like in your city.

The forecast could change as it gets closer to December 25, the BoM noted.

Despite Australia experiencing a “weak” La Niña – which typically brings cold and wet conditions – the BoM’s long-term forecast, released late last month, predicted a hotter and drier than normal summer.

Rainfall is likely to be below average and temperatures are likely to be above average across most of Australia.
There will also be an increased fire risk in parts of Australia this summer, according to the Australian and New Zealand Council for Fire and Emergency Services.
