The Audi RS6 EV is dead on arrival

Automakers are in a difficult place. The acceptance of electric vehicles did not progress as quickly as many had expected, so that companies have re -assessed their strategies. Various manufacturers have already canceled planned EV projects and the last victim seems to be the Audi RS6 e-tron.

Insiders talk Top gearAudi has canceled the RS6 E-Tron project because of insufficient demand to justify its development. The news comes as a surprise, especially because spy photographers saw what an RS6 e-tron prototype tests seemed to be in 2023, although it might not be wearing that badge.

When contacted for comments, a Audi spokesperson refused to tackle rumors immediately, but said: “Nevertheless, we can assure you that we are working on performance models based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE).”

The PPE platform is a shared EV architecture developed by Audi and Porsche, which support models such as the Macan EV and Audi Q6 e-tron. Previous reports have suggested that a powerful Audi could produce more than 700 hp on this platform.

Audi takes instructions

High-end buyers lose interest in powerful EVs. The segment has lost its exclusivity – especially when a car such as the Hyundai Ioniq offers 5 N 641 hp, a 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds and a starting price of only $ 67,800.

Luxury car manufacturers feel the shift. Brands such as Pagani and Koenigsegg have publicly stated that their customers have little or no interest in electric supercars. Ferrari has reportedly delayed his second EV because of the “zero” question, and even the first electric vehicle from Lamborghini can be dead on arrival.

Audi already offered a powerful EV in the RS E-tron GT, which has 912 hp and can reach 60 miles per hour in just 2.4 seconds. That does not leave much room for another powerful EV-Laat only a station wagon.

Although Audi may have canceled plans for an electric RS6, a new combustion is reportedly driven. It will not have the punch of an electric power line, but it can have some electrical assistant and only six cylinders.

But nothing is confirmed about the car that Audi clearly develops. The RS6 becomes the ultimate version of the A6 that you can get.
