The Los Angeles Dodgers are one win away from returning to the World Series and turn to Shohei Ohtani to try to complete the NLCS sweep over the Milwaukee Brewers.
While starting pitching was an issue for the Dodgers for much of the regular season, it was dominant for the reigning champions in the NLCS. Blake Snell set the tone with an eight-inning shutout effort in Game 1, while Yoshibobu Yamamoto allowed one run in a complete game in Game 2. They got “only” 5 ⅔ innings and eight strikeouts in Game 3 from Tyler Glasnow, and will now run their two-way star to the mound in hopes of closing out the series.
Ohtani made the first playoff pitching appearance of his career in the NLDS against the Phillies this year, pitching six innings and allowing three runs while striking out nine in his Game 1 start.
That brings us to today’s quiz. In his only full season as a starting pitcher for the Angels in 2022, Ohtani struck out 219 batters with an American League-best 11.9 strikeouts per nine innings. With that being said, can you name every active MLB pitcher with at least one 200 strikeout season?
