I received cards in the mail today from a few different sources, making for a pretty fun Friday afternoon. Let’s make this a quick post.

As mentioned in the Tony Clark post a few weeks ago, I’m working on a series of 1998 Bowman refractor reprints. Here we see a pair of young sluggers from 1990 Bowman, secured by several eBay sellers who happen to appear at the same time.

On the subject of refractive reprints, I have also been working on my ARMS. Yes, my search for an Archives Reverse Master Set is still slowly fading away. I only have 109 cards left, which doesn’t seem like a huge number, but it’s all cars and relics, which leads to financial complexity, as I don’t need to tell you readers. I probably won’t complete the football portion in my lifetime at the current acquisition rate, but maybe if I focus on the two baseball releases…?

TOP PRIORITY warning! 1972 Topps high marks. I raced Crocodile to see who can complete our ’72 Topps sets first. There are only 22 needs left, but I think he’s going to pass me. One of which came from a tcdb trade and the other was a win over Greg Morris on eBay (the only one of the many ’72s I bid on from that particular set break that I ended up with, grrr).

Here’s the rest of the TCDb trading. I contacted user ejholmes76 because I was looking for the ’72 Traded Cardenal he had available, and our trade matching shook out nicely with a PWE trade of cards changing hands, which he agreed to, and that also gave me a ’64 need (108 cards left, 81.66% completed on 1964 Topps). I already had the ’75s in my set (surprisingly all I needed was a Reds team card [Sparky Anderson] but despite that I haven’t bought one yet and have chosen to hold my breath until sheer luck gets me one) but I needed this pair of ’75 dupes for PCs. (Thanks for the trade, Eric, if you’re reading this.)

And finally, here’s the rest of the Greg Morris loot: a double blast from Hoyt! I recently realized that I should make it a point to complete his Topps run. Well, it’s unlikely that the high-numbered ’52 Topps rookie card will ever appear in my collection in non-reprint form, but otherwise this goal is within reach, especially after landing these ’62 Topps. Now I really only need 1958 Topps and 1960 Topps (an extra ’72 Topps for the PC would be nice, but it’s a damn high number, so I might be content with “sharing” the set build because who cares in the end as long as I have one in the larger collection.)

Oh, and the other card is my first Red Man from 1953. Looks great! I don’t normally seek out oversized pieces like these, but sometimes you have to go outside your comfort zone for your best PC guys. And hey, does anyone have a list of baseball cards that have eyeliner applied to the player? You can put this on there, along with Dave Winfield’s 1980 Topps plus some of the 3-player prospects from the 1979 Topps. Seriously, did you get a good look at them? It’s a bit weird, right? But hey, whatever. Neat card and nice addition to the Wilhelm PC.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!
