The seven-seat Tesla Model Y Juniper has landed in Europe, with the third row option now available to order for 2,500 euros. The same option costs $2,500 in the US market, where it made its debut.
While the original Tesla Model Y was available with an optional third row that added two seats, this option was never available on the Juniper. A three-row Model Y was later launched in the form of the Tesla Model YL with a longer wheelbase, but instead of a 7-seater it is a 6-seater with a 2-2-2 seating configuration, with the center bench replaced by two individual seats.
Now the 7-seater Model Y is finally making its comeback. Access to the third row of seats is achieved by folding and sliding the outer seat of the center bench forward.

Above you will find a comparison of the seating configurations between the 5-seater Model Y, the 7-seater Model Y and the 6-seater Model Y L.
The Model Y’s third row is not the same as Model YL’s: the third row of the long wheelbase version has ISOFIX child restraint points in the third row, which are missing from the third row of the regular Y.
Would you buy a seven-seater Tesla Model Y if it were offered in Malaysia? Based on US prices, the price for the add-on could be RM10,000 if we take a chance. Or would Model YL be more suitable for the Malaysian car buyer?
