– Tesla Model Y Door Lock – Complaints have ensured that federal safety controls have opened an investigation into Model Year 2021 Tesla Model Y SUVs.
The research of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is aimed at the electronic door locks of the model Y and how they function from outside the vehicle, because that circumstance is the only one in which there is no manual way to open the doors.
NHTSA has received complaints about the Tesla Model Y -door locks from 2021 and the inability to open the doors.
Most complaints from the door lock concerned a parent who stepped out of the vehicle to remove a child or place a child in the model Y. Parents report that they could not reopen the doors to get into the vehicles.
Four Model Y owners complained that they had to break windows to get into the vehicles.
“Although Tesla vehicles have manual door releases in the cabin, a child may have no access to or operating the releases in these situations, even if the driver of the vehicle is aware of it. As a result, a resident who remains in a vehicle in this state cannot be picked up by people outside the vehicle.” – NHTSA
Researchers are currently of the opinion that the Tesla model Y -electronic door locks does not receive sufficient voltage from the Model Y. Repair invoices say that the low voltage battery should be replaced. But model Y drivers complain that the warning lights with a low voltage battery cannot be activated before the handles of the outside door failed.
“The Tesla’s Manual’s Manual’s Manual ‘Jump Starting’ and ‘Opening The Hood With No Power’ sections describe a multi-step process for repairing current to the electronic door locks to make their operation possible. This process requires the installation of 12 volt DC of a separate power from the exterior from the exterior of the exterior of the exterior from the exterior of the exterior of the exterior of the exterior of the exterior of the exterior of the exterior of the exterior on two different points from the exterior on two different points.” – NHTSA
2021 Tesla Model Y owners, however, do not always have the option of applying 12 Volt DC from separate power sources.
Carcomplaints.com will update our website with the results of the Tesla Model Y -Door locking research from 2021.
