The 18th Davis Cup meeting between Spain and Germany went to the extreme, with each match decided by the narrowest of margins and the tie only being achieved in the third set of the third match.

The pair were victorious in one hour and 47 minutes, winning 73 percent of first serve points and winning three times as many return games. For the second year in a row, Germany is eliminated in the semi-finals and has to wait for a first title in 32 years.
