A teenager of the Sunshine Coast “was afraid of his life” when he stuck his stepfather deadly, a court heard.
The suspect wiped tears away when he was in the Dok in the Supreme Court in Brisbane on Friday.
The defense argued that the 18-year-old, who was then 16, was “in panic and scared” when he showed his stepfather a knife in his pocket to let him “back” before a fight broke out between the couple.
The teenager, who cannot be identified among the juvenile laws of Queensland, did not owe murder earlier this week.
Teen claims self -defense
The defense said that the fatal stabbing was not under discussion, but that the jury should consider whether the teenager acted in self -defense.
The defendant told the jury that he smoked cannabis while his stepfather drank in the night of September 7, 2022.
When his younger brother entered, their stepfather repeatedly asked him if he wanted “a bong”, the teenager said.
“He wouldn’t stop, and I didn’t want him to have one. I said there was nothing left, he can’t have one,” he said.
“He said I had to get something and hasts. I was intimidated. I was scared.“
The suspect said he took some cannabis out of his room, picked it up and grabbed a bong for his brother, but then quickly decreased from him.
“I just said,” My brother is not becoming a drug addict, “I took it away from him and put it down,” he said.

The court heard that the younger brother of the teenager sent a Snapchat group message just before midnight and said: “Boys, my f ** King brother just put down my stepfather, I am (f ** king) shaking.”
The defense argued that the stepfather had made comments earlier that would make the suspect believe: “He was a real threat to him”.
The court hears about drug use
The teenager told the jury that his stepfather had told him before when they worked together that he and his friends had beaten the windshield of a gay man and hit him.
“He spoke about some violent things … who wants someone or something like that, he would say:” I would like to pull that guy teeth “… but [the comments he’d make] Wouldn’t be as often as when he was drunk, “he said.
The suspect claimed that his stepfather had once offered him ice, bought him alcohol and cut him lines from cola to get him out of bed one morning for his work.
“We used cocaine … while we were working. It happened more than once,”
he said.
The teenager said that his stepfather and mother often fight while drinking, but there was never physical violence at home.

He said that one of the fighting was about his stepfather who drove him to pick up cannabis from a friend’s site.
“Mama was angry about the weed … that [stepfather] Helped me to get it, “he said.
Queensland -police officer Daniel Collins previously told the court on Friday that the teenager had admitted that he had drunk five or six shots of whiskey before stabbing.
The teenager continues to provide proof on Monday.
