Technical updates: 2025 Belgian Grand Prix | Racer

Eight out of 10 Formula 1 teams have brought the Belgian Grand Prix new parts, despite the challenge of a sprint weekend that limits their practice time.

Only Haas and Sauber have chosen to introduce upgrades on Spa-Francorchamps, because the rest of the schedule has used the gap between three weeks between races to bring developments in their cars. They will all practice only one hour on Friday before Sprint qualification to collect data and understand the impact of any changes.

Although McLaren has a low-downforce rear wing of which, according to efficiency, the efficiency will improve compared to a number of upcoming circuits, the Ferrari-where there is also a lower Downforce rear wing that makes more focus because it brings a new rear wheel suspension. The team says it has revised the geometry of the rear-wheel suspension, and in turn that has “caused a re-optimization of wishbone tubs and lower and upper winglet cascades, with the aim of maximizing aerodynamic efficiency.”

Red Bull has taken a number of new components, with a new front wing with updated first and second elements. The team says that this changes the pressure distribution in that area of the car, which increases the total load. There is also more camber on the rear wheel body lower cascade wing compiling, which also results in an increase in downforce.

In addition to those items, a new Sidepod -inlaat has been developed to improve the cooling for upcoming tracks, which leads to corresponding changes in the hood, forefront bus and rear -wheel suspensions.

Mercedes has two small updates, with a tweak on the second element of the front wing and an amendment on the drum lip on the Achterhoek, both designed to improve the wake service of the tires.

There is another upgrade package in Aston Martin, focused on the front of the car. The team says that a new nose and front wing assembly is designed to generate improved performance through the working range of the car, while there is also a balance sheet range on the front wing valve and lower downforce rear wing and bundle wing options.

Alpine has the track-specific changes in the rear wing and jet wing in the same way, just like Racebulls, where there is also a new diffuser and rear brake channels to improve the current conditioning around the back of the car.

A new floor has been introduced at Williams, with new floor gates and a revised floor edge. In summary, they improve the load on the front floor, but they also improve potential performance downstream and benefit the air flow in the diffuser. Further associated changes have been made to the Sidepod – improving the power energy on the back of the car – and the hood, with the last with a deeper undermining of the body, which improves the local floor load.
