Remoolal Tweak’s head lines brought a thin list of upgrades to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The long straight rights of the Baku City Circuit in the first and third sectors lead to some of the largest brake zones on the calendar. Drivers rinse 130 mph – from 205 mph to 75 mph – in the first turn. Directors experience 5G in turn 1 and turn 3.
Ferrari will tackle the high inhibitory requirements with a larger output for the brake channel made especially for this circuit to improve the brake cooling.
Charles Leclerc has claimed the last four Baku pool positions in succession for Ferrari and the sprint post in 2023, although the Monegasque has to win another race on this song in any size.
Racing Bulls has also brought circuit-specific brakeupgrades this weekend, so that brake channels on the front and back of the car are changed to “increase the cooling current … to meet the requirements of the circuit.”
Red Bull Racing will apply an upgrade that is not related to the specific requirements of the track, thereby bringing a reprimated inboard assembly for the rear wing of the RB21. The team has described it as a “mild” upgrade that will stimulate Downforce without harming the stability of the air flow at the back of the car.
Red Bull Racing will rely on the floor upgrades that it brought to Monza – where Max Verstappen dominated the race – to improve his performance in Baku. The team was not -competing on both rounds last year and qualified half a second before the pace in the 2024 edition of the Azerbaijan -Race. Verstappen finished fifth, although Sergio Perez could have ended up on stage, were it not for a late crash with Carlos Sainz.
Mercedes has also brought a revised front wing with front wing valves with a shorter agreement – the distance between the leading and rear edges. The team says that the change will reduce the downforce in the modified parts of the front wing in an attempt to better balance the car when it is equipped with a low-downforce rear wing.
Despite the winding middle sector of the Baku track, teams generally set up their cars for low downforce, given the available time to be obtained by the long flat explosion between bend 16 and the first brake zone in turn 1.
McLaren, Aston Martin, Alpine, Haas, Williams and Sauber did not explain new components for this weekend’s race, with all the teams that are now strongly focused on their 2026 cars.
