Tauson tops Swiatek when seeds continue to fall in Montreal | Women’s Tennis Blog

Only a few weeks after her impressive Wimbledon triumph, where she beat Tauson 6-4 6-1 comfortably on her way to lifting a sixth Grand Slam trophy, Swiatek seemed in top shape. She had opened her omnium banque national campaign with back-to-back victories, but Tauson, 16th sown, had other plans.

After the game, Tauson explained that she was not rattling when Swiatek broke back in the second set, knowing that champions never stop fighting. Instead of getting frustrated, Tauson remained focused and felt confident in her own strategy and game plan.

With this victory, Tauson is switching to the quarterfinals in Montreal, where she will be confronted with American Sixth Seed Madison Keys.
