Tata Aia Life Insurance launched ‘Shubh Shakti’, a term insurance plan that is specifically designed for women, on Tuesday.

The product offers premiums about 15 percent lower than those for men and includes women -oriented benefits, such as premium holidays during pregnancy and health support for disorders such as PCOD.

The launch focuses on low insurance coverage among Indian working women despite the increasing participation of women, employees. The participation percentage of the female labor force rose to 41.7 percent in FY24 of 23.3 percent in FY18, but a Tata AIA survey showed that 89 percent of the married women still relate to spouses for financial planning.

The plan includes premium breaks for 12 months after each delivery, so that women can concentrate on health and childcare without a financial burden. Some mothers receive another 1 percent lifelong discount on top of the standard 15 percent reduction. The product also covers child education to monthly income payments for a maximum of three children up to 25 years of age.

Health benefits include women-specific care, including IVF counseling, weight management and vaccination support for cervical cancer and HPV. The plan refrains from premiums when a spouse dies or in the case of an accidental death, whereby continuous coverage is guaranteed.

“Shubh Shakti” integrates with Tata Aia Health Buddy, who offers wellness rewards and health stimuli for policyholders and their families. The company reported the total premium income of £ 31,484 crore for FY25, an increase of 23 percent compared to the previous year and is one of the top three private insurers in individual weighted new business premium.
