Taras Mykhavko: Dynamo Kiev prodigy on United’s radar – Man United News and Transfer News | The People’s Person

While Manchester United opted to focus on attack last summer, defense will need to be looked at.

The left centre-back position in particular will need to be addressed, given the poor injury history of both Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw.

The Argentine remains sidelined, and once back there are rumors that Ruben Amorim may opt to deploy him in midfield instead.

Jarrad Branthwaite was identified as a target, but Everton’s unrealistic valuation ensured the move never materialized.

Left-footed central defender needed

A cheap alternative has now been identified, with TBR Football claim the Red Devils have their eyes on Dynamo Kiev’s defensive star Taras Mykhavko.

The 20-year-old played a key role for his club last season as Dynamo Kyiv won the league, while the Ukraine U21 international was named the competition’s Young Player of the Year.

United were joined in the race by Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, Brentford and Brighton, with RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen also keeping an eye on him.

A move to the Premier League seems more likely given the recent success of Ukrainian players in the English top flight.

“TBR Football understands that a number of Premier League clubs are closely watching Dynamo Kiev’s defensive star Taras Mykhavko.

“The recent success of players like Illia Zabarnyi, Yehor Yarmolyuk and Vitaliy Mykolenko in the Premier League, after arriving straight from Ukraine, has seen many clubs become increasingly interested in that talent pool.

“And we can reveal that Mykhavko is one of the most scouted players of the past twelve months, alongside his Dynamo teammate Nazar Voloshyn.

“As for the clubs closely watching his progress, sources have told TBR Football that they include Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle, Brentford and Brighton. RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen are also among the clubs believed to be keeping an eye on him.”

The left-footed defender has a market value of €6 millionand INEOS are always looking for a diamond in the rough. And Taras Mykhavko certainly fits that bill.
