Wrtamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin was chairman of a high -level assessment meeting to assess the readiness of the State for the coming monsoon season. The meeting was attended by top officials and district collectors.
While Tamil Nadu usually receives most of his rainfall during the northeastern monsoon, also known as the receding monsoon, various districts along the West -Ghats and those boundaries to Kerala experienced heavy rain showers during the southwestern monsoon season.
“Although these rains to charge groundwater and support the Cauvery Delta, they also bring risks such as landslides and floods in regions such as the West -Ghats and the Nilgiris district,” noted Minister President MK Stalin during the meeting.
The main minister of Tamil Nadu dedicated coastal districts to prepare for possible heavy rainfall and cyclones. He sent all district collectors to ensure a 24/7 operation of district centers, to maintain strong communication networks and keep rescue equipment ready.
Weather officers in Chennai predict mild to moderate rain over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal until 23 May because of air movements over the southeastern bay of Bengal.
Many Chennai neighbors such as Egmore, Velachery and t Nagar saw intermittent showers. The rain brought cooling lighting after warm weather, but delayed the traffic during busy hours.
The city authorities have been told to delete drains quickly and remove standing water to stop flooding in low areas. Stalin emphasized that care providers should be kept clean with sufficient food, water and strength for people affected by the rain.
