According to the AthleticThere is some uncertainty over Abe’s future as he is yet to accept Liverpool’s current contract offer, although talks are still ongoing.
This follows a recent report from the Daily mail who claimed that Arsenal were paying attention to Abe’s situation.
It remains to be seen whether the Gunners can sign the highly-rated 15-year-old, with the Athletic not naming any specific candidates but suggesting Premier League clubs are keeping a close eye on developments.
Joshua Abe leaves Liverpool for Arsenal?
Abe is highly regarded at Anfield according to the Athletic, with their piece stating: “Those who have worked with him believe he has the attitude and application as well as the talent to achieve at the highest level.”
Liverpool fans will no doubt hope that Abe stays with them to continue his development, but it seems likely that he will receive other offers as well.
Arsenal could understandably be tempting for the England Under-16 international, especially as Athletic note that LFC have a strict policy on how much money they offer their young players.
That could give Arsenal and others the opportunity to make a more tempting contract offer for Abe, although he will obviously have those around him advising him not to think too much about money at this stage of his career.
If Liverpool is the best place for his development, then he should definitely stay where he is, even if that means waiting a little longer before he starts earning really exciting wages. At the same time, many would certainly see Arsenal as a good place for top young talent to develop.
