Tai Tuivasa Explains Why UFC 325 Comeback Was Tough: ‘I’m Ready to Get Back on a Winning Streak’

Tai Tuivasa admits his UFC 325 comeback wasn’t easy.

Tuivasa will face Tallison Teixeira in an intriguing heavyweight bout at UFC 325 in Australia this weekend. It is Tuivasa’s first fight since UFC 305 in August 2024, when he dropped a split decision to Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

After the loss, Tuivasa said he would be taking a break from the sport for a while and will now return at UFC 325. While Tuivasa always knew he would be back, he admits that training camp wasn’t easy at first.

“It was hard at first because I was fat as f**k. But now I’m all good,” Tuivasa said at UFC 325 media day. “I had to miss it. Beating your head in and then losing and losing and trying to come back, it’s pretty hard. But I’m ready now to get back on a winning streak. I’m ready to go hard, give it my all.”

Once Tuivasa knew he was coming back, he said he started getting back into shape and training again to be prepared for his upcoming fight at UFC 325.

Despite being a heavy underdog, Tuivasa is confident he can get his hand raised against Tallison Teixeira on Saturday.

“It’s been a while,” Tuivasa said. “I fucking miss this shit.”

Tai Tuivasa heads into UFC 325 with confidence

Although Tuivasa is a big underdog, he has a lot of confidence heading into UFC 325.

Tuivasa admits the first month of training camp hasn’t been easy, but he has full confidence in himself ahead of the fight.

“The first month of training I went through a wall. But now I feel good,” said Tuivasa told UFC.com. “I knew it was going to be hard, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. I put my feet on the ground in my spare time, so I knew it was going to be hard. Nothing comes easy. …

“My plan is to win this weekend, put my hand up and get back in there as quickly as possible and work my way back up. I’ve been on a bit of a trot, so get the job done this weekend, and we’ll go from there.”

Tuivasa comes into the match with a 14-8 record and is coming off a split-decision loss to Rozenstruik. He is on a five-fight losing streak and his last win came in February 2022 when he knocked out Derrick Lewis.
