India defeated Namibia by 93 runs in a Group A match of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Delhi. It was India’s biggest win in terms of runs in the T20 World Cups and gave their net run rate a huge boost.
India got off to a flying start with new openers Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson. Samson hit 22 off just 8 balls before falling in the second over.
Kishan was unstoppable. He blasted 61 off 24 balls and hit four sixes in a row off JJ Smit. India raced to 86 for 1 in the PowerPlay and brought up their fastest team hundred in just seven overs.
However, Namibia fought back in the middle overs. From 104 for 1, India fell to 124 for 4 when Gerhard Erasmus and Bernard Scholtz struck at the right time.
Then Hardik Pandya took charge. He hit 52 off 28 balls and added 81 runs for the fifth wicket with Shivam Dube, who made a steady 23.
India looked set for an even bigger total but lost five wickets for just 10 runs in the last two overs. Erasmus finished with 4 for 20, while Namibia finished the innings strongly. India posted 209 for 9.
Namibia started the chase well and reached 67 for 1. For a while the match looked competitive at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Then the Indian spinners took over. Varun Chakaravarthy and Axar Patel tore through the middle order. Namibia crashed from 67 for 1 to 94 for 6 in just 32 balls.
Chakaravarthy was brilliant, taking 3 for 7. Axar backed him with 2 for 20 as the chase completely disintegrated.
Hardik also shone with the ball, taking 2 for 21. He even took two wickets in two balls at the death to seal the game.
All six Indian bowlers took at least one wicket as Namibia were bowled out for 116. The 93-run victory underlined India’s strong form in the tournament.
With explosive hitting up top and tight spin in the middle, India sent a clear message to the rest of Group A.
