CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – A fierce group of harness racing mares will line up in the Race 12 Fillies & Mares Preferred 1 Pace on a rescheduled Wednesday evening program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Dear Molly

The 13-dash presentation was postponed from its originally scheduled Tuesday time slot due to an approaching weather system that was set to impact Prince Edward Island. The rescheduled Wednesday card kicks off at 6 p.m., with the $4,650 top-tier event scheduled for the penultimate dash of the card.

Sweet Molly will look to add to her seven-win campaign from post 2 with David Dowling on the bike for trainer Jennifer Doyle and owners Clair Murphy, Derrill Murphy, Cindy Maclean and Dowling. The US-bred daughter of Sweet Lou purposefully stormed home last week and ended up just under 1:55.1 after a sharp final quarter.

The ultra-consistent Rosetown Mary sets the bar for trainer-driver Corey MacPherson as the Pang Shui mare comes into the event with eight wins, eight seconds and two-thirds from 23 season starts. Lady Devine starts from post 3 for driver Ken Murphy and owner-trainer Doyle, while Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series champion Windemere Saddy (driven by Marc Campbell) has post 4 for trainer Saul Lanigan.

Rounding out the field is former Atlantic Stakes Star Therealprincess (Gilles Barrieau), who rides in on a two-race win streak for trainer Ron Matheson. Sweet Molly’s current form, combined with the cozy interior, makes her the mare they will all be watching in the Post Time Picks:

“Sweet Molly stormed at the end of it last week and was a long way from finishing. She’s in a prime-time spot and Dowling will have her well placed from the jump, so we’re calling for win number eight of the season.”

The final leg of the Joe & Steven MacRae Memorial Fall Series for Pacing Mares hits the track in Race 2 for a $6,000 cash prize. Red Dirt Diamond (Brett Clow) was the monster of the division, winning the first two legs for owner-trainer Deanna Clow and will start from post 5 on Wednesday.

Also in the field are JJ Kinley (Kenny Arsenault), Elm Grove Nanci (Murphy), Twin B Solitaire (Steven Murphy) and Ubettimagoodone (Jaycob Sweet). The Open Trot lines up in race 6 with a seasoned tandem of diagonal gang stars. Buckhead Ridge (Marc Campbell) is in 5th place while trainer Landon Campbell wanted to close the gap in the training rankings as the morning favorite. Stratford-based Brady Doyle owns the 17-time 2025 winner.

His main challenges come from post 3 starter New Legacy (Dowling) and Fight Song (Jason Hughes) from post 4. Race 10 is a PEISHOA event with Woodmere Romantic Honeymoon (Marc Campbell) looking for her second win in a row from post 1 for trainer Carson Wilkie.
