Sweden beats USA Blue in game 2 of the World Juniors Summer Showcase – The Hockey Writers World Junior Hockey Championship Latest News, Analysis and more

The World Juniors Summer Showcase continued with Game 2 on Sunday afternoon, July 27, with the other half of the schedule of Team USA; USA Blue takes Team Sweden. USA White completed a 5-2 win over Finland in the first game of the day. Game 2 started the opposite road, where Sweden was the first on the board and USA Blue.

The goalkeeper of USA Blue was Jack Parsons halfway through the game, when Kam came in Hendrickson, while Sweden went with Love Härenstam the entire game. It was a hard -fought struggle because the first period was scoreless, but each team found the back of the net in the second and third period. Sweden started with the lead, had to fight against the comeback of USA Blue, And took the 5-2 victory.

Game 2 started quickly, just like Game 1, but the score did not start that fast. The first period went scoreless, compared to the first match, which had three goals in the first 20 minutes. There was quite a bit of physicality again, but no goals, and the period ended scoreless.

The second period is where the score took place when Sweden’s Ivar Stenberg beat a shot from the point and the score began. He was assisted by Sascha Boumedienne and Eric Nilson to take a 1-0 lead. USA Blue bounced back when Luke Osburn scored to bind the match 1-1. He was assisted by LJ Moeney and Trevor Connelly. That gave USA Blue Momentum to add another goal when Moeney took the Go-Ahead goal a few minutes later. He was assisted by Ben Kevan and Mason Toe to take a 2-1 lead in the third period.

The leadership did not last when Sweden brought himself back in the game with back-to-back goals, just like USA Blue. The first goal was recorded by Jack Berglund and he was assisted by Lucas Pettersson and Wilson Björck to bind the game 2-2. Then USA Blue Stenberg collected on an escape to give Sweden a penalty shot, and Stenberg scored to take a 3-2 lead. Stenberg made a hat trick while this time he scored again on the empty net to give his team a 4-2 lead.

Sweden’s Felix Öhrqvist scored his own empty net goal to give his team a 5-2 lead, and USA Blue could not find any way to answer when Sweden won the victory. Both teams will be in action again on Monday, July 28, with USA Blue opposite Finland and Sweden who take on USA White.
