Salman Ali Agha is waiting while the Indian Suryakumar Yadav hits handshake
At the end of the press conference, Salman Ali Agha was the first to leave the stage, together with Oman captain Yasim Murtaza and Hong Kong Captain Jatinder Singh.
In the meantime, Suryakumar Yadav had a short conversation with Afghanistan Schipper Rashid Khan before he shook hands with Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka, Bangladesh Captain Litton Das and Uae Captain Muhammad Wasem.
Suryakumar shook his hand with Murtaza, then turned to Salman Agha and completed formalities with Jatinder. Agha in particular had waited next to the exit.

Don’t think we have to get too much of it – Ruturaj Borkkakoty
Journalists from the entire subcontinent attended the press conference. According to journalist Ruturaj Borkakoty, the majority of reporters came from India, while fewer came from Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with some from Bangladesh.
Borkakoty stated that the handshake incident between Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Agha should not be made too much.
“A large number of journalists arrived, usually from India. Very few from Pakistan, much more from Bangladesh than from Pakistan, very little from Sri Lanka,” he told Sports today.
“I actually saw a very cordial press conference,” noted Borkakoty. “I really don’t think we should make too much of it, because there was a very short moment after that press conference was over, because the captains left the stage and Surya tried to reach the back of the meeting room, and when Salman Agha shook his hands.”
Warm, very short, fleeting moment – ruturaj borkakoty
Short clips of the handshake between Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Agha went viral on social media. Ruturaj Borkkakoty, who saw it firsthand,, however, stated that it was a short and cordial gesture, without any extensive conversation between the two captains.
“It was a very cordial, very short, fleeting moment. They were not from exchanging. I don’t think they really had a nice talk, normally that captains do or do the players when they meet at events like this. I didn’t see that.”
“I also saw videos of it, and I heard about the reactions of people on social media, and I am actually very surprised, actually what you expect more. I mean, you meet a player who will play you in a few days and captain of the opposition team.”
The Indian team traveled individually to the United Arab Emirates in the first week of September. They have trained at the ICC Academy in Dubai. India will be confronted with Pakistan in their group A meeting on September 14 at the Dubai International Stadium.
