A few two -year -olds dominated their older rivals and quinele loads the first race in Wyndham today.
The winner Surrealistic Moran, (Stay hungry) Trained by Darren Keast and driven by Mark Hurrell, took the lead of the Mile Dispatch, while Filly Justaweesip was parked and finished second, half a head of the winner.
“I said to mark the go button early and when he came to the top not to be afraid to lead. But to make sure he concentrated the horse, he kept it a bit in his mouth,” said Keast.
The gate speed that was shown by the two -year -old gelding did not surprise his trainer.
“He came from the gate in all his trials. In the last two trials I left the hopples of him. He is good enough to go free, but just at the moment with the pressure on (early in the race) I chose to turn him off the hard today.”
Surrealistic Moran -Herling

Surrealistic Moran, owned by Keast’s grandfather Paul Renwick, was bred by Caine Mcintyre of Macca Lodge and is the third winner in New Zealand by Somebeachsome Where Stallion remain hungry. The others have been Beauduilder Hunter and John Stewart.

Surrealistic Moran was sold at the yearling of 2024 for $ 30,000. He is from Sirius flight whose other winners include timeless perfection and Malak USWAAD.
“He still learns. Every time he left the building, he improved. The last time at the tests he actually ran twice the back without the hopples and rolled in a canter, but he immediately landed back at a pace that is rare for a free leg.”
Keast is planning to stay in the south until the end of the month with his team of four. His other two -year -olds, Uncle William and Dream Street ran well in the two -year -old position in Gore and finished second and fifth.
“It’s all very pleasant real.”
