Sudhanshu Vats, director of Pidilite Industries LTD, has been appointed as new chairman of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI). The announcement was made at the 39th annual general meeting of the self -regulation body that completes 40 years in October.
S Subramanyeswar, Van Mullenlowe Global, was appointed vice chairman. Paritosh Joshi, director of provocateur advice and veteran from the industry, was appointed honorary treasurer.

The self -regulating body said that it is planning to carry out a series of new initiatives in the coming months. It will launch a children’s advertisement and media literacy program that more than a million school students will train. “The ‘AdWise’ program will make students aware of identifying, in question and evaluation of advertising reports, reducing their vulnerability to misleading and harmful advertisements,” it added. It will be an ethnographic study under pleasure under Gen Alpha to help develop a framework for responsible advertisements for the new generation of children growing up with technology and screens. It will also expand its footprint in Bengaluru and New Delhi.
