Luis Suarez has been handed a one-match suspension for the final match of Inter Miami’s first-round MLS play-off against Nashville SC following a post-match review of an incident involving defender Andy Najar.
Suarez’s suspension was the result of an investigation by the MLS disciplinary committee, which found that the Uruguayan executed a careless off-ball kick on Najar in the second half of Game 2 of the series at Geodis Park on November 1.
Miami lost that game 2-1 after winning the first, allowing Nashville to level the series and force a third and final game, which will take place on November 8 at Chase Stadium.
“The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Inter Miami CF forward Luis Suarez for one match and fined Suarez under Parameter 3 of the Disciplinary Committee for violent conduct in the 71st minute of Inter Miami’s match against Nashville SC on November 1,” said a statement from the MLS Disciplinary Committee.
“Suarez will serve his one-match suspension on November 8 during Miami’s match against Nashville SC.”

At the time of the incident, referee Allen Chapman was not booking Suarez in any capacity, but MLS rules allow for post-match disciplinary action to be taken at the committee’s discretion.
This is Suarez’s second MLS suspension this year, following a three-match ban for spitting on a member of the Seattle Sounders’ backroom staff during the Leagues Cup final in August.
Miami will be without Suarez for the final match of the series, as they battle for a chance to face Columbus Crew or FC Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
