Staffer claimed for stealing sensitive data from Telangana Raj Bhavan

A suspended employee was arrested after he reportedly stolen hard drives with sensitive data from RAJ Bhavan by Telangana, who activated a police investigation.

The hard drives, who reportedly had licensed software, official documents, internal users -IDs and passwords and inspection reports for information technology, were stolen from Sudharma Bhavan, within the Raj Bhavan building in Hyderabad.

According to the first information report (FIR) registered at the Panjagutta police station on 15 May 2025, the violation took place around 10.11 pm on 14 May.

The accused, T Srinivas, was seen in CCTV images that entered the office in the office in a helmet late at night in a helmet, only a few hours after he was suspended on the same day at 8.10 pm.

The complaint was submitted by N Rakesh, the information technology manager at RAJ Bhavan, after his colleague, network engineer Sri Sriram, noticed deviations with a computer system on the morning of 15 May. The computer showed another user account and a blue screen and further inspection revealed that the original hard disk had been replaced.

After the internal assessment and identification of the suspect in CCTV images, Rakesh warned higher officials and searched for legal action. Sub-inspector P Pradep has registered the case and assigned sub-inspector B Venugopal to conduct further investigation. The stolen hard disk was appreciated on RS 5,000.
