After a debilitating ten-game West Coast Road Trip, the Cincinnati Reds finally returned home to Great American Ball Park on Friday evening. They start a nine-game, ten-day Homstand with a weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals. The first throw is at 6:40 PM Edt.
The Reds have lost six of their last seven games and have fallen four games behind the Mets for the last NL Wild Card place, so winning as many matches as possible for the rest of the season, including beating the team directly among them in the NL Central classification, is crucial.

Start -tarpers
Matthew Liberator
Left -handed Matthew Liberatore starts tonight for the cardinals. In his fourth year at the level of Big League, he has thrown considerably more innings while he has his best season so far. That said, his seasonal numbers are probably crooked by the month of May that he had in 33.1 innings to a 2.97 ERA. It has been a struggle for Liberatore lately. In July he had an ERA of 6.57 and in August he already allowed 13 points earned on 22 hits in 21.2 innings for a 5.40 ERA.
As expected for a Lefty, he overwhelms faces right -handed batters. Left -handed batters are at a better pace against him on the base than the right side; Of the 14 home runs that he has allowed, however, 12 of the bat from Righties have come. Jose Trevino is the only red one in the line -up tonight that loved Liberatore, but a few Reds have hit him pretty well without getting a home run, including Miguel Andujar, Ke’bryan Hayes and Nelvi Martee.

Zack Littell
Right -handed Zack Littell comes from his shortest outing of the season, when he threw only three innings and give up four hits on three undeserved points against the Diamondbacks a week ago. Littell’s weakness this season has been the home runner. This year he has allowed 28 home runs, most of his career. However, most of these were with the rays. He has only given up two home runs in 20.2 innings since he was traded to the Reds.
The splits of Littell are even decent. He has confronted with more right -handed batters than left -handed batters, and righties get a little better against him than left. He is not a strikeout world, with his strikeout percentage lower than 20% compared to both judges and left. However, his running speed has been phenomenal this season. It is currently in the 97th percentile in all MLB.
