Matheesha Pathirana is still recovering from a respiratory infection

A significant setback for Sri Lanka is the absence of a fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana from the T20I team due to an upper respiratory infection. The pacer, known for his pace and ability to take wickets, will miss the tour as he continues his recovery. In his place, Asitha Fernando has been included in the T20I squad.

Dilshan Madushanka dropped out due to a knee injury

Moreover, key pacer Dilshan Madushanka has been ruled out of the ODI series due to a knee injury, with Eshan Malinga named as his replacement. The squads also see some other changes from recent line-ups, with the likes of Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Janith Liyanage and Dushan Hemantha included in the T20I squad, replacing some of the previous squad members.

The Sri Lankan teams combine experienced players like Kusal Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana and emerging talent who want to challenge Pakistan on home soil.

Despite the injury setbacks, Sri Lanka hopes to field competitive sides in both ODIs and T20Is to perform strongly in Pakistan and the tri-series. The squadrons will leave for Pakistan on November 8, 2025.
