Miami announced on Friday that Jimmy Spratt will join the staff as an assistant to the head coach.
Spratt, who was assistant -coach last season at the Fargo Force of the USHL, returns to Oxford after he was earned from 2019 to 2022 as director of Hockey Operations of Redhawks.
“We are pleased to welcome Jimmy Spratt to our staff,” said Miami head coach Anthony Noreen in a statement. “His experience, passion and dedication to the game will be a great addition to Miami Hockey.”
During his time in Fargo, Spratt coached the goalkeepers, worked with the defense, supervised the Penalty Kill, assisted with the team’s concepts and helped with off-ice operations.
Spratt spent the 2023-24 season as an assistant at Northern Michigan, coached the goalkeepers of Wildcats and assisted with all other coaching tasks, including recruitment. He worked the previous year with the Green Bay gamblers of the USHL as an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach.
Spratt’s first stint with the Redhawks included supervision of the travel plans and video analysis of the team, while he also served as a voice for the Miami goalkeepers.
“I am absolutely excited and look forward to the chance to come back to Miami,” said Spratt. “After I had been there in the past, I know how special it is and how much potential it has.
“Participation in Anthony, Troy, David and Lio is a great opportunity for me. I have seen by working both in the university ranks and then in Juniors how hard they are recruiting and what they have for 2025-26 and then. I appreciate this opportunity to be part of a program that has so much potential and seems to be on the right way.”
Before he became the director of Hockey Operations of Miami, Spratt spent the past five seasons in his Alma Mater, Bowling Green, in the same role. Spratt has built more than 5,500 minutes of action between the pipes for the Falcons for the Falcons from 2005 to 2009. Spratt was an average of 3.45 goals in total and made 2,441 saves in 100 performances. Spratt was also good for three shutouts in a single season and tied the goal for most shutouts in one season for a Falcon goalkeeper.
After graduating from BGSU in 2009 with a diploma in sports management, Spratt spent four seasons in the Echl. Spratt split the time with various teams during his Stint as a professional, who appeared performances with the Toledo Walleye (2009-11, 2012-13), Las Vegas Wranglers (2009-10), Victoria Salmon Kings (2009-10), Idaho Steelheads (2011-12) and the Utah Grizzlies. Spratt also played in the AHL in 2011-12 for the Texas Stars.
