The first two batters for the Cubs were sent back to the Dugout, but Seiya Suzuki ran to keep the 1st inning alive for Chicago. Carson Kelly then hit a single in the middle and for some reason the Suzuki Cubs sent around third place to try to score at the game. The throw from TJ Friedl to Elly de la Cruz took one bouncing before he took it and threw home in sufficient time to get Suzuki out to end the inning.

Cincinnati used that blown-up chance in the second half of the inning when Miguel Andujar hit a 2-out solo-home run to set up the Reds with 1-0. However, the lead did not last long, because Dansby Swanson hit a solo -homer from Nick Lodolo in the top of the 2nd to tie things. In the 3rd inning, the Cubs would take the lead when Nico Hoerner base a single and entered to score on a two -squeeze from Ian Happ. The Reds prevented Matt McLain with a solo -home run in the second half of the inning to tie things up again.

After Nick Lodolo retired the first two batters of the 4th inning Pete Crow-Armstrong, a single base on a grounder to the third base that the throw of Ke’bryan Hayes saw that Spencer of the bag smelled. That extended the inning and the club paid the price for it, while Matt Shaw followed with a 2-run home run to put Chicago back in the lead.

The Reds comforted on another run in the 5th inning with a little help from the Cubs. Ke’bryan Hayes took a walk to distract the inning and he took second base when Shota Imanaga threw away a pickoff attempt. Jose Trevino was on his way to second base, but it brought Hayes a bag, making it easy for him to score on TJ Friedl’s Single in the left field that raised the game.

Austin Hays picked up an Infield Single with one in the bottom of the 6th. Spencer Steer followed with his second home run of the Night to set up Cincinnati 6-4 and to place himself in the team leader spot with 20 home runs. His team leader in Thuis Runs lasted about 30 seconds because Elly de la Cruz threw his 20th home run of the season on the next Worp – an opposite field shot to push the lead to three points.

Connor Phillips, Nick Martinez and Tony Santillan had taken care of their business from the bullpen and combining to throw 3.1 shutoutinings to get the match to the 9th with the Reds still with 7-4.

Emilio Pagan went into the game for the 9th looking for storage. After a groundout, Pagan received a two -squeeze to Matt Shaw. Would follow a line -out to the third base and inform well -known Reds killer Ian Happ. Not Friday night. Not in this, because Pagan Happ hit a lazy fly to shallow left-center for the final of the game to seal a victory.

Important moment of the game

The back-to-back home runs from Spencer Steer and Elly de la Cruz in the 6th inning that Tie game turned into a 3-run lead for the Reds.

Notes worth mentioning

Elly de la Cruz home for the first time since we called movie Talkies. Ok, so it’s not so long ago, but the Reds Shortstop did Homer for the first time in 43 games, which feels like it might as well have been the 1920s. He came to base three times when he added two walks to his home run.

Spencer Steer was the only Redslagman who had several hits and both hits were home runs. That gives him 20 of the season. It is his third consecutive 20-homer season. This was Steer’s second Multi-Homer match of the season. On June 27 he hit three of them against San Diego.

The Reds are now 78-76 with eight more games. The New York Mets Leiden 9-6 in the 7th inning. Arizona and San Francisco both play games tonight that have not started yet. New York started two games on Cincinnati and Arizona and three games at San Francisco. Everyone still had nine games on the schedule when the game started today.
