On Tuesday, June 24, Baton Rouge, HBCU established in Louisianab A new Digital Media Arts program, which will offer education and training in recording art, visual arts, movement images, production of digital screen arts, digital performance and sports production.
The program starts in the coming autumn semester.
“You can expect to walk into a lab, walk into a classroom and expect to see an environment that reflects where they go as soon as they leave,” Darrell Roberson, co-director of the program, told WBRZ. “If you are a major, that actor or actress can collaborate with that student of Digital Media Arts, or if you need music, they can go to the recording of art students.”
Together with a new program, the school’s campus will receive some new additions, including a Global Innovation and Welcome Center. The campus will also add a public safety building, an outdoor classroom, an amphitheater and a learning lobby.
“When they bring in new students to look at the campus, and they see the activity, activity breeds excitement, activities breeding cooperation, activity breeds activity, right? So, they see the university doing things like that, I think they want to become part of it,” Kenneth Dawson, assistant director of Facility Planning in Southern University, told WAFB 9.
Creating the Digital Arts program and the added space are exactly on time. Together with his famous band, The Human Jukebox, the school achieves victories in art. A group of students won an Emmy from 2025 for The Hidden SportA documentary that emphasizes the human jukebox and his long -term contribution to sport and culture.
Students must be able to enjoy the Welcome Center and Amphitheatre by the end of the year; According to WAFB 9, the other major projects, such as the voice and business building, must be completed in 2027.
