The first day of the SA Hockey Interrovincial Tournament supplied all the promise of Elite Hockey, Doelen, Disruptions and Teams that lay down markings for the coming week, in the Hartleyvale Stadium in Cape Town, on Monday 28 July 2025.
Women a section
SA U21 1–3 Northwest
North West went to a dream start with Emily Wilson who stands out early, and her twin sister Charne The law doubled the benefit.
Although Teshawn de Le Rey withdrew one for the juniors, the result was sealed late by Lize Claassens when North West started strong.
Northern Blues 4–0 WP Peninsula
The defensive champions had to be patient. After Hanrie Louw had opened the score, WP Peninsula let them work hard for the rest. Only the second half did she go away through Olivia Dillion, Maikemisetso Marokoane and another Van Louw to achieve a confident 4-0 victory.
Southern Gauteng 6–1 KZN Raiders
Zuid -Gauteng did not waste time to hit their pass. Sylvia van Jarsveldt scored twice in the opening half, accompanied by goals of Gabriella Terblanche and Unathi Magudulela for a 4-0 lead during the break.
Amber Fairon and Bianca Wood also added Polish, where Jessica Fletcher grabbed a comfort for the Raiders.
Western province 9–0 Free State
In the most one -sided game of the day, WP bowed their muscles with a Blitz with nine goals. Rebecca Kaps, Kayla de Waal, Charné Maddocks, Brady Wiseman, Stephanie Botha and Quanita Bobbs – everyone got the action. With a ruthless attack, WP made a clear declaration of intent as favorites of tournament.

Eastern Province 7–0 Mpumalanga
EP did not waste time to place their claim for promotion. Bianca de Klerk and Toni both mark twice, with further goals from Elan van Vugt, Tasmyn Prpreller and Tristan Howard who complete an impressive victory.
Eastern Province 2–1 WP Disa
In the second game of their double header, EP had to dig deeper. Disa took the lead through Trusten Barnard, but Marks equalized before Tasmyn Prpreller shot the winner home to end a perfect day 1 for the Eastern Cape Side.
With day 1 complete the tone is set in Cape Town. From the attacking flair from Zuid -Gauteng to the ruthless precision of WP and EP’s Dominant Double in the B section -something special will be in Hartleyvale in the coming days.
