Societe General is expanding in India with the launch of the Gift City Branch

The Paris, based in Paris, announced the launch of a new IFSC Banking Unit (IBU) in Gujarat International Finance TEC-City (Gift City) on Thursday, which will help his ability to deliver innovative and tailor-made structured financing solutions and to sharpen its support for Indian customers.

The branch is led by Mihir Baxi, head of IFSC Banking Unit, Societe General Gift City. Baxi will continue to function as director, business coverage, Societe General India, explained an official release here. line Had already reported that Societe General was one of the financial entities from France that had submitted an application to the International Financial Services Authority (IFSCA) for setting up a base in Gift City. The others who have submitted applications for setting up an IBU include Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank and Natixis.

The new IBU will focus on investment -intensive sectors such as renewable energy and various forms of infrastructure, including roads, transmission, data centers, technology and telecommunications. Societe General was founded in India in 1978. In addition to Gift City, the bank works through its local branches based in Mumbai and Delhi, where Indian companies and financial institutions are served, as well as global customers.
