Seine-et-Marne and part of the Massif Central will continue to issue an orange snow-ice alert on Sunday, November 23 in the morning. Météo-France reports layers of snow averaging one to four centimeters in Ile-de-France, which was hit overnight by the first winter episode of the season. According to the latest bulletin, the forecaster lifted its orange alert at 6 a.m. for the departments of Yvelines, Val-d’Oise, Essonne, Paris and the inner suburbs. Seine-et-Marne and the Massif Central remain affected until 8am.
“The weakly active disturbance, which has given rise to snow, with some freezing precipitation, continues its long shift from west to east, towards the northeastern part of the country,” reports the meteorological organization.
Six departments of the Massif Central (Aveyron, Cantal, Corrèze, Creuse, Haute-Vienne and Puy-de-Dôme) have been under orange alert since 3 a.m. on Sunday morning due to light snowfall and freezing rain. In this region, precipitation remained low and scattered: small snowfalls in Cantal and western Puy-de-Dôme, while Limousin recorded 1 cm in Limoges (Haute-Vienne) and 3 cm in Egletons (Corrèze).
The police station had decided to reduce the speed limit throughout Ile-de-France by 20 km/h and to ban overtaking on main roads for trucks over 3.5 tonnes. Trains are not expected to experience any significant disruption, but delays of one hour were reported in Roissy on Saturday evening and are likely to continue on Sunday.
‘The first episodes are sometimes not taken seriously enough’the Minister of Transport, Philippe Tabarot, had warned from the crisis center that mobilizes Météo-France, road services, civil aviation and transport companies. A total of 7,500 road officers will be mobilized this weekend.
