Del Mar, Calif.-John Smith from La Habra Heights, Ca, changed his $ 4,000 starting bankroll to $ 18,340 on day one of the characteristic two-day event of del Mar, the 22nd annual summer challenge. John scored Groot with a double bet of $ 2,000 in races 7 and 8 for a payment of $ 16,600 to lead.
Smith wins the first daily price of an entry to the $ 4,000 Pacific Classic Bocking Challenge that will be played on DEL Mar or online on Saturday 30 August via TVG.com.
The top three are Roger McDow from Las Vegas completed with $ 13,800 and Scotty McKeever, from Fort Lauderdale, FL, with $ 10,490.
The alone track challenging attracted 117 entries from top players from all over the country. Participants compete for more than $ 230,000 in total prices. The Top 12 Finishers receive a combination of prices, including cash, seven submissions for the $ 10,000 Breeders Cup Bocking Challenge in Del Mar, a maximum of seven National Horseplayers Championship spots and submissions of the Pacific Classic Bocking Challenge.
