Smart inflatable kitchen, folds flat, inflates into camping cooking facilities

The smaller you try to make a micro camper or small trailer, the less space you have to install conventional camping supplies. The bathroom is often the first to disappear, but eventually the kitchen may have to follow suit. Then you’re stuck with a backpacking stove, or maybe a box of Pop-Tarts. German startup Stuff Bubble has a different idea about how even the smallest camping vehicles can carry a complete kitchen. The folding kitchen weighs just 15kg fully equipped, can be stored flat on the floor of the vehicle and can be inflated at camp, with a sink, work surface and even a fridge.

Stuff Bubble calls its concept a world first, and while we’ve seen inflatable vehicle tents, inflatable pop-up camper roofs, inflatable camping furniture and even inflatable outdoor movie screens, we’ve never seen an inflatable kitchen.

Unlike permanently installed kitchens or removable boxes, the Stuff Bubble does not take up the entire volume during the ride. Drivers can pack the unit flat, from approximately 18 to 12 inches high, and use the extra space for coolers, luggage, sports equipment and other amenities. The kitchen weighs between 8 and 15 kg, depending on the equipment level, and can be carried quite easily by one person.

At camp, the Stuff Bubble kitchen is shaped in about three minutes with an electric pump. Right now it looks a lot like a traditional kitchen, which is almost as wide as the tailgate of a van and offers a countertop that is 48 inches long and 24 inches deep.

The simplest setup includes the worktop with recessed sink, cutting board and storage space under the counter. The cutting board can be attached to the front of the kitchen unit and serves as a worktop extension or hob holder. This basic setup requires the camper to bring his or her own cooler and water.

Those who prefer a more elaborate design can further specify the kitchen through other packages, transforming it into a capable RV cooking station, ready to rival the galley of any small camper. The mid pack includes a complete sink system that uses a portable Dometic Go rechargeable electric tap and two 10 liter water bags for use with the sink. Campers can now clean their hands, wash dishes, rinse off products, etc.

Buyers can also upgrade to the top package, which also brings a built-in refrigerator. The cool thing is that it’s actually an inflatable unit with an under-counter soft case that blows up into shape and a hinged lid with integrated electric cooling, essentially an electric soft-sided cooler that combines the benefits of electric cooling with a foldable design.

Stuff Bubble will host an official debut of the kitchen at this month’s CMT camper and travel trade show in Stuttgart, Germany. Also on display will be an inflatable folding bed system designed to use the kitchen as part of the foundation to provide sleeping facilities.

Best of all, Stuff Bubble will be teaming up with Kia Germany to showcase Kia’s brand new PV5 electric van converted into a camper via inflatable furniture. That light, flexible PV5 camper follows the insanely awesome PV5 WKNDR overland camper concept that Kia developed for SEMA 2024.

Come on

The Stuff Bubble kitchen is available to order now at discounted early bird prices, ranging between €1,250 and €1,800 (approximately US$1,450 and $2,100) depending on the package. European deliveries will begin in February, when prices will rise to between €1,400 and €2,100 ($1,625 and $2,450).

Good news for Americans used to seeing such gear exclusively for the European market: Stuff Bubble already has launch plans for North America. It even partnered with Volkswagen to show the kitchen and bed in an ID. Buzz electric van at the 2025 LA Auto Show in November. That rig then made a trip to San Francisco for a photo with the Golden Gate Bridge.
