The Marchee region offers many beautiful small cities and here are some that you can visit, but there will also be wine tasting and food. It feels a bit like what you do in Italy, it will be something special and so it was during the trip in Marche.

Internal hotelellet Marche I Tolentino

Two nights were spent in the vicinity of Urbino (read more here: the Italian region of Marche Surprises and impressions) and two in a design hotel in the small town of Tolentino. The hotel has 30 different rooms and each is dedicated to an Italian architect or designer. The rooms have different designs, colors, unique objects and a small plate with information about the person marked in that specific room.

One of the rooms – Interno Marche

A real challenge for the building engineer of course, but here local artisans and designers have worked together to get a completely unique feeling where there is no space the same. The prices are from approximately SEK 1800 for the simpler rooms, but given the design, the feeling and the level you get a lot for the money.

All rooms have their own design at Interno Marche and there is a unique object in each. An overview in the Minitayr is located in the lobby.

Vingården Agricultural Company Guerrieri

It is full of vineyards in the region (read more here: Italian wines and caves in the Marche region) but this was really a place where you can be in a long time and they have a beautiful garden to try the wines. These family businesses started in the 19th century in the 19th century and it is now the fifth generation that is the fifth generation.

The winter traditions of Guerreri have been inherited in the same family since the 19th century.

It is easy to find someone from the family when they work in the garden every day of the week and they are happy to tell about the earth as they usually do and the family is what we would Sweden would say – real Italians with fire and passion. Although they have new visitors every day, Alberto Guerieri tells about the farm, but also about Italian cuisine and agricultural policy.

We often say that we have visited a vineyard, because that is probably what you often think in the first place. But the fact is that many vineyards in general and Guerrieris in particular do so much more than just wine. Here, Durum is grown when they make their own pasta, 90 hectares and also olives for their olive oil.

Here the grapes Bianchello, Verdicchio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Moscato, Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Lacrima, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were grown with 57 hectares. Guerieri has received prices for their wines and you can buy everyone on the spot, both bottles and larger boxes.

Their wines are not available at Systembolaget, but many other wines from Marche can be tried if you want to taste the region.

It is also possible to get a wine tasting in the wines stored in Gueriery

The medieval city of Fabriano with incredible murals

For those who love Middle Ages, beautiful paintings and beautiful churches, Fabriano is a perfect city to visit. The incredibly beautiful in the church of St. Benedictus, is a must to see, an absolutely fantastic church where various historical events have taken place throughout the centuries.

It really feels like a medieval city on arrival on the central square in Fabriano

You should definitely go for a tour and if you are lucky, you will see a piece of the oldest part behind the altar itself in the oldest part of the church. Fabriano is one of the first cities where paper is produced and even today they are known for the invention of water coupons, the technology that the most manufacturers of banknotes use.

These paintings in St Benedict in Fabriano are hidden in a small room behind the altar, ask the guide if you can see it!

It is clear to see that the city praises its history with both flags and shields that adorn walls and towers. Also visit Oratorio della Carità, near Stora Torget and look at the beautiful paintings that adorn the walls.

The city of Fermo with Roman reservoirs and museums

Fermo is a small and pleasant city with older history than Fabriano with just under 40,000 inhabitants. The city has a history from the year 800 BC, but is better known for its buildings and events in Roman times when Fermo became an important city.

So nice to see how you can preserve traditions with old shields in Fermo

The enormous water products from Roman times are nowadays one of the most important attractions for visitors to Fermo. It is fascinating to wander around them and to think that they are 2000 years old, but even seem to be in good condition today.

The 2000 -year -old Roman reservoirs in Fermo give a nice coolness.

The museum in addition to the reservoirs must also be visited and inside there is a library from 1688, well preserved with books, cards and old armchairs that you read. There is also a Swedish connection here. The library is called Romolo Spezioli Civic Library and is named after the personal doctor Romolo Spezioli of Queen Kristina.

Queen Kristina ruled in Sweden until 1654, but then moved to Rome, where she was active in cultural life and also converted to Catholicism that became a major scandal.

A short visit to cozy ripatransone

Another slightly smaller city in Marche is Ripatransone that is known for its narrow streets and the old theater. The beautiful church is also worth a visit, but it was almost spooky to be there at two o’clock on the day all Italians take their siesta.

There is also a wine bar, Ripani, which has a good wine list and simple dishes, perfect for a small wine tasting.

The view from Ripatransone was fantastic with the mountains that came across the landscapes

Italian traditional beer and cozy streets in Tolentino

Last night was spent in the small town of Tolentino and in the Hotel Interno Marche. We who traveled together and experienced so much wine and pasta decided to try some Italian traditional beer and a real Italian pizza.

It was really nice to walk around to Tolentino and to experience what it is like in an Italian small town, a high cozy factor by seeing how the Italians spend time and eat out in the evening.

Since returning home it has become Italian wines from there and talked a lot about truffles and Italian pasta. For those of you who love the more personal meetings and smaller cities with a high cozy factor, Marche is really a hit.
