Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement to sign Rennes centre-back Jeremy Jacquet worth up to £60 million, despite widespread rumors that the defender would make the move to Chelsea.
In recent weeks it has been claimed that the player has asked to join CHELSEAthe club has agreed a deal for the defender and it was only a matter of time before an announcement was made by the club’s hierarchy.
However, in recent weeks the potential move has stalled as Chelsea seemingly do not want to meet the asking price set by the French club, but that does not appear to be the end of the story.
But now reports have revealed it LIVERPOOL have reached a verbal agreement for the transfer of Rennes centre-back Jeremy Jacquet worth up to £60 million, and the Reds have agreed to pay a fixed fee of £55 million plus a potential £5 million in performance-related add-ons.
And the reports add that Jacquet is already flying to Liverpool to undergo his medical treatment on Deadline Day.
Liverpool are not blessed with options at center back. Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are their only fit senior players in that position, with Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni injured, meaning the club had to sign a new defender.

CHELSEA will certainly be infuriated by this latest news as they were seemingly all set to complete a move for the young man, so reports that he has now agreed a move to Liverpool will come as a blow.
But with all the defensive problems Liverpool are currently facing, there are more opportunities for Jacquet to play at Anfield than at Chelsea, which is probably why he agreed to the move.
But the boy is so talented LIVERPOOL have signed a very good player, that’s for sure.
LIVERPOOL TOLL SIGN TONALI
Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has encouraged his old side to match Arsenal for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. The Italian has been linked with a deadline day move to the Emirates Stadium.
LIVERPOOL spent some crazy money in the last transfer window and many expected Liverpool to be strong this season, but those signings haven’t quite had the impact Arne Slot would have liked.
The transfer window has been open for a few weeks now, but it is not certain whether that is the case LIVERPOOL will make any move this month, there has been a lot of speculation about players who could make the move in the future, and Tonali is one player linked to Merseyside.
With reports suggesting Arsenal want to sign Sandro Tonali in January, Pennant has opened up and told Liverpool they should look to sign the Italian enforcer before the Premier League leaders.
He told the ECHO exclusively: “Newcastle are in absolutely no rush to sell. If they want him, Newcastle will be setting expectations too high. You’re looking at a minimum of £80m to get him and I don’t think you’re paying for a stopgap for that.”
“You don’t pay those kinds of fees for someone just to come on because someone is injured. If you want him that much then he’s worth it because he’s a fantastic player. You can see what he’s done for Newcastle.”
‘I would like to LIVERPOOL Maybe filling in for him, playing him as a number six or whatever, it’ll be a nice little addition, but yeah, I don’t think Arsenal or Newcastle will do business with Tonali.

It would be a shock to see LIVERPOOL actually make a move for the man on deadline day, especially as they already have a number of players in that midfield under Arne Slot.
But there is no doubt that he is a quality player ready to take the next step in his career, and the fact that he is being chased by two of the biggest clubs in the Premier Legaue shows just how good he really is.
Arsenal will be very lucky to sign Tonali as we don’t see Liverpool making the move.
JACKET A BEAUTIFUL SIGNING
Liverpool fans have been told that incoming Jeremy Jacquet is a huge signing after the Reds managed to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea for the signature of the talented Rennes star.
LIVERPOOL have been linked with many players in recent weeks and some big names have been mentioned, but it appears Jacquet is the club’s top transfer target and the board have been working hard to secure a deal.
The young French star comes to LIVERPOOL on a deal worth around £60 million and has reportedly agreed a contract worth around £100,000 a week for the next four years as Liverpool look to solve their defensive problems.
Now that Liverpool have signed the defender, journalist Julien Laurens has hailed Liverpool’s signing of Jeremy Jacquet, claiming he will be an excellent signing for the Reds if he completes the move.

The kid is talented, he has a great future, he is playing well, all these things could go wrong in a move to LIVERPOOL as he may now be able to handle the pressure of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
But there is no doubt that he is a genuinely talented player that Arne Slot will love, and Chelsea will be furious that he has turned down a move to Stamford Bridge.
