The Salman Ali Agha-led outfit will play the three matches on January 7, 9 and 11, with the entire schedule being played in Dambulla. The short tour will be the Green Shirts’ first white-ball assignment in 2026. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) stated that the series will provide the team with “valuable match practice ahead of next year’s global event”.
The PCB has given white-ball cricket top priority since the conclusion of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in May earlier this year. There have been several T20I series that Pakistan has been a part of, including series against Bangladesh (both home and away), West Indies (away), South Africa (home) and two three-nation series.
As for Sri Lanka, they recently toured Pakistan. The first assignment was a three-match ODI series, which the hosts won 3-0. They then played the tri-series with Zimbabwe and Pakistan defeating the Lankans in the summit clash.
Besides the T20Is against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, Pakistan are also set to play a three-match home series against Australia in the last week of the same month. Pakistan will play all its 2026 T20 World Cup matches in Sri Lanka. They have been placed in Group A alongside India, Namibia, the Netherlands and the United States of America.
All their league matches are played in Colombo. Pakistan, who suffered a competitive stage exit in the previous installment of the mega event, will be aiming for a better show in the tournament this time.
