The sister of Minnesota Timberwolves -star Forward Naz Reid was shot and killed in New Jersey on Saturday morning, the authorities said.
Toraya Reid, 28, was found dead on Saturday around 11 am with several shot wounds near an exit of an apartment building in Jackson Township, according to the Ocean County attorney office.
Authorities quickly arrested Shaquille Green, a 29-year-old man Toraya was apparently dating. They both lived in Jackson Township, according to the office of the public prosecutor, but it is unclear whether they shared an apartment.
Green was taken into custody and accused of the murder of Toraya and illegal possession of a firearm.
Naz, a 26-year-old rising star with the Timberwolves who achieved a stunning extension of $ 125 million in June and collected a dedicated supporters on and next to the field, previously praised his older sister for inspiring and protecting him while growing up in nearby Asbury Park.

Their youngest sister, Jakahya, asked for privacy and respect on behalf of the Reid family, struggling to understand how the whole test was not only ‘a kind of sick joke’.
“We always send our condolences and say that we can never imagine ourselves in that situation … and yet I am here. I am confronted with the unimaginable. Without you by my side,” Jakahya wrote on Facebook.
“I will never get over this, I will never forgive God that He is taking you from me, what kind of sick plan that the man has above, but I know you could not have been there anymore. I can’t even place Phantom your name and death in the same sentence.”
Naz, Toraya and Jakahya all went to the Roselle Catholic High School in Noord -New Jersey, about 40 miles away from their house. Where Naz excelled in basketball on the field, he told the magazine that Toraya preferred softball while their father coached football.
Green is held in the prison of Ocean County while waiting for a hearing.
