LOS ANGELES — The Actor Awards, the newly renamed version of the annual SAG Awards, celebrated notable achievements in film and television on Sunday night, with several Oscar contenders among the evening’s top winners.
The cast of “Sinners” earned the top award: the Actor for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The film’s star, Michael B. Jordan, also won for his starring role as twins.
On stage, he reflected on his early career and thanked his mother for all the sacrifices she made along the way.
“Mom, thanks for driving me back and forth to New York when we didn’t have enough money for the Holland Tunnel or when we were looking for gas money,” he said.
Jessie Buckley won the Actor Award for Female Actor in a Leading Role for her role in “Hamnet.” In the supporting categories, Sean Penn received the Actor Award for “One Battle After Another,” and Amy Madigan was honored for “Weapons.”
Madigan joked about the trophy she was holding, saying, “It was like when you were little and you had the Barbie, and then you got Ken, and then you threw open his drawers and said, ‘Ken has nothing.’
On the television side, “The Studio” dominated the comedy categories, winning both best ensemble and acting honors for Seth Rogen and the late Catherine O’Hara.

The ceremony added to the emotion as Harrison Ford received the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award.
“I am indeed a lucky person,” Ford said on stage. “Lucky that I found my people, lucky that I have work that challenges me, lucky that I’m still doing it. And I don’t take that for granted.”
“When you see me in a movie, I’m supported by the other actors, by the writing, by everyone who works on set. I don’t work alone. No one does,” he said on the red carpet.
As awards season nears its end, the last major ceremony is the Oscars, which take place on Sunday, March 15.
