Under the bright lights of La Défense Arena, Jannik Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassime will take the field in pursuit of important milestones when they compete for the Rolex Paris Masters title on Sunday.
For Sinner, the win would mark his first Paris crown and seal a triumphant return to No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings, which he would regain from rival Carlos Alcaraz. Meanwhile, Auger-Aliassime – up to eighth in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin – can book his place at the prestigious Nitto ATP Finals if he emerges victorious. Their championship match is scheduled for no earlier than 3:00 PM CEST/9:00 AM EDT.

The pair’s Lexus ATP Head2Head series is tied at 2-2, although Sinner has recorded back-to-back wins in Cincinnati and the US Open this year. Their semi-final in New York was a gripping four-set encounter, with Auger-Aliassime briefly threatening to turn the tide before Sinner’s poise took over.
“At one point I saw him hesitate and I almost had a momentum shift that allowed me to turn the match in my favor,” Auger-Aliassime said of that match. “Maybe he has had a disappointment for different reasons and the game turns around again. But it was encouraging to see that. These players are not unplayable. They are very strong, yes. Sometimes they are really unplayable, but there is a way to upset them.”
These words will underpin the Canadian’s mentality on Sunday: the belief that on his day he can punch through even the toughest defense.
If Auger-Aliassime wants to disrupt Sinner’s rhythm, he will have to deploy his full tactical arsenal. Indoors, Sinner has been virtually invincible, with a 25-match winning streak under the roof dating back to the Davis Cup final in 2023. His flat, early ball strikes make him deadly on these slippery surfaces.
For Auger-Aliassime, stepping inside the baseline and combining pace with heavy topspin and slice, using his net skills to shorten the runs, will be key. Fortunately for him, the numbers inspire confidence: according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, he has 82 indoor Tour victories to his name this decade.
This has been a season of resurgence for Auger-Aliassime, who has rediscovered his talent to capture three ATP Tour titles and return to the Top 10 for the first time since 2023. His run to a second ATP Masters 1000 final this week was one of perseverance and composure, recovering from a set down in his first three matches and then capitalizing on Lorenzo Musetti’s early exit to take control of his destiny to seize in Turin.
“He’s playing incredible tennis right now, he’s improved a lot,” Sinner said of Auger-Aliassime. “Especially in the past few months, he has found his game again. I’m looking forward to it tomorrow, it’s a great opportunity for both of us. I’m very happy for Felix, he’s one of the nicest guys we have on Tour. It’s going to be a very difficult match.”
Watch Sinner & Auger-Aliassime reach the Paris final:
Sinner has been a model of consistency in 2025, reaching the finals in nine of the eleven tournaments he has competed in. Yet this was not without heartache. His final defeat at Roland Garros to Alcaraz, in which he squandered three consecutive championship points, left deep scars, as did the loss of his 65-week reign as world No. 1 after their US Open final.
But every setback has fueled his fire. This week in Paris, Sinner was at his clinical peak, playing just 19 in four matches en route to his ninth ATP Masters 1000 final. Now he is one match away from winning his fifth title at that level and regaining the No. 1 ranking in the world.
As the Parisian crowd prepares for the first final in the tournament’s new home, the La Défense Arena, there is a lot at stake. Sinner plays to assert his dominance; Auger-Aliassime to remind the tennis world of him.
