Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has entered into a memorandum of agreement (MOU) with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) – Institute for Minerals and Material Technology (Immt), Odisha.
According to SCCL, joint cooperation with CSIR -immt exploration, production and application of modern technologies in the detection and use of critical minerals in the mining areas of SCCL will facilitate.
CSIR – IMMT offers full technical support to SCCL’s proposed initiatives in this area and ensures the use of ecological sustainable technologies during production processes, as described in the agreement.
N Balram, CMD from SCCL, said that as part of the business diversification of the company and in accordance with the guidelines of the Central and National Governments, SCCL said to venture into the critical mineral domain.
Balram also said that SCCL initiated the dialogue with Australia with regard to the deer production and could use the expertise of Immt in that company.
Provisional investigation by CSIR -immt has confirmed the presence of deer’s in fly axle, coal and interseam clay from the existing activities of SCCL. With these findings in place, SCCL is now ready to start the commercial production of critical minerals.
This collaboration not only reinforces the diversification strategy of SCCL, but also comes in accordance with the broader agenda of India for reducing import dependence and building domestic capacity in strategic minerals.
