Micky van de Ven put Tottenham ahead at Turf Moor in the first half, but his opener was canceled out by Axel Tuanzebe in stoppage time.
Lyle Foster gave the Clarets the lead with 15 minutes remaining and put them within reach of a much-needed win, but Cristian Romero equalized late on to ensure the Lilywhites went home with a point.
Xavi Simons makes ‘unacceptable’ Spurs admission after draw against Burnley
“We wanted to win and the two goals we conceded are not acceptable,” Simons told Premier League Productions. “It’s a shame, but we have to move on.
“In general, yes [we deserved to win]but here you have to win – even if the goalkeeper has a great game. We have to score those goals and we have to win.”
He continued: “We can’t stop this goal a minute before half-time and neither can we stop the second goal, I think we can avoid it.”
As Spurs fought back to earn a draw, Simons added: “We know how good we are with set pieces and crosses, and the two centre-backs Micky and Cristian are good there. Really good.”
“The only solution is to keep working. That’s how we do it.”
