Joe Root said on the podcast ‘Stick to Cricket’: “I think Kane (Williamson) is a great player. I think Steve Smith has been incredible, especially if he played against us. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma – I mean the same … I think he is a very good player.”
Gill in particular is currently playing in the Asia Cup 2025, where he is the vice-captain of India. The right-handed Slagman was recalled aside after his impressive tour in England, where he collected more than 700 runs to help India at the level of the five-match test series.
In his short career, Gill has scored more than 2500 points in both test and ODI Cricket, while he could manage around 600 runs in 22 T20is for India.

Meanwhile, rooted root also rich praise over his English teammate Harry Brook. The former captain of England said that Brook “makes his life so much easier”, and he even compared the presence of the young person to the fold with that of the legendary Kevin Pietersen.

Brook settles as one of the most dreaded and reliable batters of England in all sizes with more than 4,600 runs in 109 international competitions on an impressive average above 43 and a success rate of almost 98. Brook had already beaten 11 centuries and 23 fifte-yearly, with the career-best score of 317 at his name.
His impact on Testcricket has been impressive since he made his debut in 2022. He has collected more than 2,800 runs with an amazing average above 57 and a success rate of 87 in the format. Brook has registered for 10 centuries and 13 fifties. And now he is the white ball captain of England.
