Showcase gets rewarded

The Jamie Gameson trained Showcase (Vincent) is a regular visitor to the south and when she goes to Southland she goes to Mataura trainer Lyndon Bond.

“Jamie has entrusted me with his horse and I feel privileged in that way. The breed gets better with age. The owners are quite tough guys so it’s really good,” said Bond.

Driver Brent Barclay put Showcase four back on the inside and she was shuffled back inside in the final 300 meters. Barclay got her from inside but had to hook her six wide.

She stormed home and won by a length from Superfast.

SHOWCASE REPETITION

“He came in today and said: ‘Sharp today Bond, unbelievable.’

Twenty of her thirty starts were in Southland, including her three wins.

Showcase is out of eleven winner Here We Go Again, a daughter of New Zealand cup winner Kym’s Girl.

Other foals by Here We Go Again, Remission and Mamma Mia also won races in the south.

She raced against the better fillies early on, so today’s race was a bit of a dip.”

Showcase returned to form with a good final start in third.

“I told Jamie and her owners that she’s just coming along really well. She had a few starts where she was just running around and going like that. She’s been out of her skin the last few days.”

Lyndon got his own reward later in the program when Step It Up a Notch won.
