Less than a year after his retirement from professional tennis, Shelby Rogers has announced that she expects her first child! The former world no. 30 shared the joyful news on Instagram and revealed that her baby should appear in January 2026.
In the post, Rogers posed next to her husband, John Slavik, and their two beloved dogs. The couple made the knot in December 2023 in Rogers’ birthplace of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The caption of the pregnancy announcement was: “Expect our first baby in January! We are so enthusiastic about this new adventure together!”
Rogers officially ended her tennis career at the US Open 2024, where she fell to colleague -American Jessica Pegula in the opening round. Thinking about her decision to retire, she explained: “I always said that if my heart loves it and my body is healthy, I would play this sport forever! But now my body tells me it’s time.”
During her career, Rogers reached two Grand Slam quart finals (Roland Garros 2016 and US Open 2020) and participated in three WTA finals (Bad Gastein 2014, Rio de Janeiro 2016 and San Jose 2022).
