Several BNSF Metra line trains scheduled to run on Christmas Eve were canceled mid-day due to an “operational incident,” Metra announced.
A staffing shortage forced the cancellation of a Christmas Eve service, a Metra spokesperson told NBC Chicago.
Around 3:13 p.m., Metra BNSF posted about the cancellation on social media.
The trains that are not running are the incoming 2026, 2028 and 2036. Canceled outgoing trains are 2029, 2037 and 2041.
In addition to the cancellation, Metra is active on a reduced schedule on December 24.
