Markets extended their morning profits during the afternoon trade on Thursday, with the Sensex with 665.50 points or 0.82 percent to 81,663.75 and the Nifty Avertioning 208.10 points or 0.85 percent to 24,828.30. The benchmark indices maintained their upward momentum of the opening session, where the SENSEX had started on 81.196.08 and the Nifty on 24,691.20.
Pharmaceutical and retail shares continued to lead the advance of the market, with Dr. Laboratories. Reddy came up as the best Nifty Gainer, which rose 3.44 percent to 1,295.00. Trent followed closely with a profit of 3.15 percent to 5,680.00, while Eternal LTD achieved the highest profit of 5.43 percent at 259.02. Power Grid Corporation added 2.24 percent to 295.00 and Shriram Finance rose by 1.89 percent to 653.35.
Financial shares showed a mixed performance, in which Indusind Bank led the decliners with a fall from 1.15 percent to 805.00. Bajaj Finance fell 0.45 percent to 8,947.00 and continued his morning weakness. Maruti Suzuki dropped 0.31 percent to 12,125.00, while Tata Consumer Products and Asian paint registered the marginal losses of 0.18 percent and 0.13 percent respectively.
The market width remained positive about the BSE, with 2,456 shares, against 1,333 falling issues. A total of 3,976 shares were actively traded, while 187 remained unchanged. The session witnessed 97 shares that hit Highs for 52 weeks compared to 26 lows of 52 weeks. Circuit activity showed 234 shares in the upper circuit and 179 in the lower circuit.
Sectoral indices showed broad profits, with the Nifty next 50 rising 0.73 percent to 67,351.85 and the Nifty Midcap 100 that rose 0.73 percent to 58,346.70. The Nifty Financial Services Index won 0.61 percent to 26,425.15, while the Bank Nifty recorded a modest increase of 0.30 percent to 55,842.00.
The continuing purchase interest rate reflects constant optimism despite worldwide uncertainties, with investors maintaining their focus on domestic foundations. The return from foreign institutional investors to net purchasing area and domestic institutional investors expanded their purchasing streak, offering extra support to market sentiment.
Trade volumes remained healthy between segments, with considerable activity in the pharmaceutical and retailers. The ability of the market to maintain profits through the afternoon session indicates underlying power, although analysts continue to follow global developments and upcoming policy announcements for directive signals.
