“Seinfeld” star Michael Richards has returned to the comedy podium for the first time in almost 20 years.

The 76-year-old comedian came on stage on Wednesday evening for his new tour, “Michael Richards: an evening with conversations, questions and answers.” The Tour marks the first time that Richards has participated in a public event since a racist eruption derailed his career in 2006.

Richards spoke frankly about the moment his life changed and why he chose to reject jobs for the past 17 years. The comedian was sometimes wild and rambneupig when he performed scenes from the TV program that put him on the map, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“I was forced to visit again [my backstory] Because I was in a comedy club 19 years ago and I was a very naughty, naughty man, “he told the crowd.” That night I was interrupted, I was interrupted, he really became the wrong way. It went really bad and I said some terrible things. Although I tried to lift it in comedy, believe it or not, playing this idiot who is a racist, I can channel all this Goo-Gah, which I usually do as Dionysian. I don’t really work with an act, I am very loose on stage, very loose goosey. That Goosey brought me into trouble. “

The extensive break lasted 17 years, according to Richards.

“I thought I would just withdraw and step into myself, apart from the show business, apart from acting, apart from always being moved by character,” he said according to the outlet. “What do you think about being moved by myself? I took an exodus and I spent many, many years with just very, very closely to mood, feeling, thought, dialogue with mood, feeling and thought, paying attention to my dreams.”

The “trial and wrong” star noted that he “received many phone calls” from people who wanted to offer him a route back to acting, but he chose not to take anything.

“Something else wanted me to stay alone, withdrew,” he told the crowd. “I spent a lot of time every morning in the Santa Monica -Bergen. I needed the sun. I stayed with the sun, with the earth. I felt that the order of nature supported me in collecting a kind of order in myself.”
