For the first time since July 2023, Rizin ff ladies super atomweight champion Seika Izawa will defend her title on November 3 at Rizin Fighting Federation: “Landmark Vol. 12” in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan. Izawa is confronted with deep and deep jewelry microeight champion Saori “Little Giant” Oshima.
Rizin FF officials announced the competition together with other matchups for the card today. Since the end of 2022, Izawa has made only one title defense due to questionable matchmaking and injuries or weight problems with opponents. Noeru “Noel” Narita also compensates against Misaki “Iruka Umisaki” on the map.
Izawa (16-0-0) retained her 49 kg Rizin title with a close and controversial split decision victory on Si Woo Park in their Rizin FF 40 Rematch almost three years ago, but the Japanese star has since been in Matchmaking-Vagevuur because Rizin has been struggling in Matin. She easily retained her title in an entry of 64 seconds on Claire Lopez on “Super Rizin 2” before she beat the subtracting Miyuu Yamamoto and Kanna Asakura in successive non-title. Izawa recently won two non-title fights against Lucia Apdelgarim and a heavily overweight Yu Jin Shin, but she will finally have a credible and very ranking in November.
Oshima (15-6-0) is undefeated in four Rizin FF fights, a total of victories over three common Izawa-contradictions-asakura, Yamamoto and Lopez-Even if a smooth submission of Pancrase Champ Haruka “Salt” hasgawa in just 76 seconds. Her performances for Rizin, however, have been distributed and the Grappler has encountered early setbacks in attacks for Deep, where she lost her deep jewelry atomweight title to Si Yoon Park and Invicta FC in September 2023. In May she was upset by heavy Underdog Ye Ji Lee at Deep: “125 Impact”, but a crucial victory against rising star Moeri Suda last weekend at “127 Impact” placed Oshima back on the radar for a confrontation with Izawa.
Although the matchup is demonstrably late, Izawa has been in need of a credible title -Uitdager for some time. Oshima, although smaller and not as strong as the Rizin champion, is able to test Izawa on the floor with her own range of clambering and submissions.
In other 49 kg Super Atomweight Action, 17-year-old Narita (2-2-0) is looking for repayment in her second Rizin FF-appear when she takes on Suda (2-0-0), which remains unbeaten since the pro is. Both women have kept very active fighting schedules in the last two years, with Narita developing an important fan who is under the Shooto banner thanks to her success. Her Rizin FF debut in July, however, ended in a one-sided loss of entry and she hopes to return to her return in November. In the meantime, Suda struggled to find consistency as an amateur, but has so far won both pro fights, including a close decision winning victory at Deep Jewels 48 in March.
