Despite the circumstances of the former CEO Carlos Ghosn who thinks that the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance is dead, the loaded partnership produces a number of actual seductive fruit. Enter the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross of the second generation, a totally new electric crossover with Renault substitute that does not share anything with its controversially mentioned predecessor. The old Eclipse Cross is not exactly a high bar to prevent, but this new Eclipse Cross EV looks really good.
The new Eclipse Cross is designed for Europe, and it will be built in the same factory in Douai, France, which currently produces Renault 5, Megane E-Tech and picturesque e-tech, and the new Nissan Micra that also rides on the AMPR platform (what Mitsubishi calls the CMF platform). It is the first fully electric car from Mitsubishi since the i-Miev, and although it is very unlikely that it will reach Mitsubishi dealers in the US, we can at least look at the design of instructions of what future models can look like. Mitsubishi says that the new Eclipse Cross “is a turning point for the brand because the complete electrification embraces”, adding that it is an “important June” for an expansion of the European Markt-Mitsubishi, for example, arrives.
It is twins of the Renault Scenic e-tech
Really, I think the electric Eclipse Cross looks great – we partly thank Renault, because the Eclipse Cross is a heavy make -over from The well-rated picturesque e-techBut all new Mitsubishi -Bits are cool. Large components such as the doors, side windows, rear fenders and roof are shared with the Renault, and the more normal crossover profile is much better than the strange triangular, layered back of the old model. On 175.9 inches long and 61.8 inches, the new Eclipse-Kruis is a few centimeters shorter in length and almost five centimeters shorter in height than the outgoing solar darkness cross.
The dynamic shield wall of Mitsubishi translates well into an EV, with blocked panels with a three -dimensional honeycomb surface. Mitsubishi develops a fairly cool running light signature, and the setup of the Eclipse Cross is as we have seen The upcoming Montero. Although cliché at the moment, the way in which the rear lights are connected by a black beam is fun, and I think the C-Pilla treatment of the Eclipse is more interesting than that of the Renault. The Tri-Spaaks wheels are also sick. Mitsubishi says that, depending on the trim, shiny black, satin chrome or steel gray outdoor accents such as the grille and side skirt can be.
A pretty nice interior
Apart from the badge on the steering wheel and the stitching pattern on the seats, the interior of the Eclipse Cross is exactly the same as the picturesque. That is not really a bad thing, because it is a nicer interior than any other Mitsubishi, except perhaps the highest decorations of the Outlander. It has a vertically oriented 12.3-inch touchscreen with a row of hard buttons underneath, housed in the same angular trim as a 12.3-inch digital meter cluster. The system has built in Google, including cards and the Google Assistant, Plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can get a wireless charging cushion, a Harmon & Kardon sound system, 48-colors Ambient lighting and an electrochrome panoramic sunroof. A maximum of 20 advanced driver systems are available, which can include 12 ultrasonic sensors, four cameras and a front radar.
I have to mention the names of the trim level that are the best I have heard in a long time: inform, invite, intense and Instyle. That is so much better than just calling it the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross le.
This year for sale in Europe
During the launch, the new Eclipse Cross has an 87-KWh battery that delivers 373 miles on the European WLTP cycle, but in 2026 it will also get the battery option of 60 kWh battery of the Scenic. The car has a water-cooled thermal management system to optimize the battery performance, as well as a heat pump and PTC heating at all equipment levels. It will quickly load up to 150 kW, or you can sapping a burning 22 kW on an AC charger at home. Just like the Renault, the Eclipse Cross has a single electric motor that makes 215 hp and 221 pound-foot torque, causing the car to push up to 62 mph in 8.4 seconds, a few tenths faster than the 152-HP gas darkening cross, and it will hit 106 mph. As we have seen on Renault’s EVs, the Eclipse Cross has measures to make fire fighting easier:
If the worst-case scenario occurs, no matter how unlikely, it is crucial that the high-voltage tractie battery can be safely arranged. To tackle these concerns, the new Eclipse Cross is equipped with safety functions that have been designed to protect First Responders while working on the vehicle. A pyrotechnic separation switch means that when the computer on board feels an airbag implementation, it automatically disconnects the traction battery of the vehicle to prevent possible safety risks. This eliminates the need for a manual battery -decorector. Fire personnel can also work freely and have full access if they are needed to extinguish fires. With access to the fireman, a hose can be connected and the water flow breaks the upper disc and floods the high -voltage battery.
That’s pretty cool! Mitsubishi says that the new Eclipse Cross will enter the production in Q4 2025, and it gets a guarantee of 8 years/160,000 kilometers, three years more than you usually get from the brand. Prices still have to be announced, but I think it will be a bit cheaper than the picturesque.
